CDG 2010

Last night, I had the opportunity to work at the Costume Designers Guild Awards held at the Beverly Hilton. The CDG is an annual event that honors the costume designers for television and film and this year it was sponsored by Swaroski and Lacoste. I rushed there right after FIDM and had to do a quick-change in the car (in the LA traffic)! When I got there, it was non-stop madness. I assisted the producer the whole night--running around after her, getting passes, calling reps, confirming presenters, trying to get the final script to print, carrying multiple phones and walkie-talkies, escorting celebrities, setting up the green room, getting press ready... and on and on and on--this producer was everywhere, she worked so hard, she was like superwoman! She made this show happen and I can't imagine being in her shoes (but I was surely running after them). There were some moment of panic though -- like when we couldn't find Nicole Kidman. But after all the craziness backstage, the show ran smoothly. Spotted plenty of other Emily Blunt, Anna Paguin, Jayma Mays, Alan Cumming, Kristen Bell, Anna Kendrick, Roma Maffia, and Jessalyn Gilsig. I also got to meet the brilliant costume designer and FIDM Alumna, Mona May! Overall, it was a beautiful night and a magical event honoring some of the most talented and creative minds in the industry. Kudos to jLine Group!

further procrastination.

Have you ever started to work on that paper (in this case, my 5-page paper on ethics for INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS) that you ABSOLUTELY need to get done, but look around your messy surroundings and think to yourself, "Self, we can't work on anything in a mess like this," and start cleaning instead of writing...and I mean major cleaning like washing all the dishes, vacuuming, doing laundry, putting your roommate's stuff away, washing the windows, scrubbing the toilet??

Well, that's what I did this weekend. Instead of concentrating on my paper, I did whatever else I could to avoid it. My apartment is now squeaky clean and my page is still........

it's that time of year again: the debut.

FIDM's annual Debut Fashion Show features collection from the Advanced Study Fashion Design program. It's very competitive, very exclusive, and only the best of the best get accepted. Think of it as our very own Project Runway (except no one gets kicked off). After an extensive 9 months of training, designing and creating their designs, the 10 selected talent put forth their work in a fancy runway show for the rest of FIDM and industry people. This year, the main event takes place on Friday, March 12th at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Have you picked up your tickets yet?

Look out for us at the 8:30 PM show!

Rest In Peace, McQueen.

Alexander McQueen dropped out of school at age 16 to pursue a career in fashion design...
Tragically, McQueen was found dead in his London apartment in February 2010. The cause of death was apparently suicide.

spotlight fashion: GAGA

about a year ago when i spotted lady gaga in an inspired thierry mugler origami ensemble, she immediately became my latest fashion muse. i was obsessed with her style. today... that admiration has not stopped but fumigated into a higher level of odd fascination and infectious lure than ever before. she's completely out of this world (literally, in her armani prive at the 2010 grammys) and it's the kind of fashion the world's been waiting (or not ready) to see. i bow.
