Easter Sunday Holiday Break

I'm taking "Assortment Planning & Purchasing" class on Saturdays for 5 weeks, 6 hours but this Saturday we had the day off due to Easter Sunday so Happy Easter thefidmlife readers = )

Before I began taking this class I was mortified, terrified, and horrified about it. I've dropped out of this class before because I fell behind and I just knew I couldn't pass it, this is my second time taking it. When I signed up for this 5 week class, the only thing on my mind was "just get it over with Anna" but I had second thoughts before I took the first class. I kept on asking myself, my sister, my bestfriend and my parents about wheter or not I should just drop it and take the normal 10 week course or continue with what I signed up for and challenge myself.

I ended up keeping it and challenging myself and guess what, to my surprise, I am doing well. For some reason I just work better under pressure and the pressure of this class really has me going. I for once, is actually understanding all the material and is one of the students who participate in class a lot. I think I'm going to be okay.

Now, time for photos that I have taken through out the weeks that school has gone back in session = ) Enjoy!

Day 1
I thought I was going to be the only wacko dressed like a bum to class but several of my classmates were dressed like hobos too! Haha = )

Day 2
Lining up to sign up for what brand we're doing for our portfolios.

I am so happy they finally enforced this "NO SMOKING" sticker on the tables outside. I am so disgusted by smokers that don't consider those who who dislike it.

My outfit that day = )

Day 3
There are so many great photos from this day so visit my blog for more!

You can visit my blog for each school day post:

The Last One

How is everyone doing?!

So sorry that I haven't been blogging weekly like I promised :(

It's my last quarter at FIDM, I still can't believe it.. this quarter I am taking two (2) classes:
-Brand Portfolio
-Assortment Planning & Purchasing

To break it down, brand portfiolio is a class where you build a portfolio on your own, indivdually (the class before this is Classification & Line Development where you work in a group) but Brand Portfolio is totally independent. Assortment Planning & Purchasing is math. Strictly and only math, math, math! For those who are interested in marketing and becoming a buyer you will love this class, if not, you better learn to love it because you will be seeing a 6 month planning calendar for the rest of your career.

Anyways, I just wanted to check in to write a quick post. I will update with photos when I come back because my sink is full of dishes :)

Actions Speaks Louder Than Words

Yes they do.

I remember 6/7 weeks ago I said I was going to attempt to write at least one blog post+video a week and well, that didn't happen :(

Anyways,
It's Sunday.. March 6th, 2011 and it's 2:16am as I am typing this.
I just finished editing FIDM video blog #2 and will upload it onto YouTube before I close my eyes tonight/this morning.

I worked a wedding today with Carrie Zack from 10:00am to 11:00pm.
(Check out my blog for my post and photos on my day as a wedding/event planner assistant!)

My feet are feeling-less if that is a word and I am guessing it's not since it's underlined in dotted red says MacBob. But yea, this is a boring update post and if you have less than 10 minutes to spare check out my FIDM vLog #2, enjoy!

Fur hoods and cloudy skies

Now that midterms is over I can get back to feeling like a normal human being for a few weeks then turn into a ball of stress again for finals.

Here's a taste of what I cover over on my blog. I would call my blog a lifestyle blog. Sure, I normally post my "outfit of the day" photos but it's not necessarily around just fashion. I blog about my life. I blog about my family, friends, food, and fashion. I like it call it my 4 F's. Seriously, these 4 F's are all I need in life.

Outfit of the day:
Parka: Hollister
Shirt: BDG
Scarf: Forever21
Leggings: American Apparel
Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Handbag: Rebecca Minkoff
Boots: dav

Moving on,
Los Angeles is on the random and weird weather mode again.
It was very grey, cloudy, and sprinkly today.
But on a good note, (1) I finally discovered that not-a-secret underground parking below the loft today!
It's not a secret but apparently not many of us know about it so I am sharing it with you all!
LITERALLY, this parking is right below the loft so if you don't feel like parking at another lot since most of us do because the FIDM underground parking is full after 7:15/7:30am, go ahead and park under the loft! There's an elevator underground too that takes you right up to the 12th floor! Perfecto!
(2) The view from the loft is quite the sight. Then again, when you're on the top of any building, looking under at the world is quite amusing.
(3 & 4) If I were to ever get into a car accident I swear, it'd be from one of the following: eating, changing clothes, or taking photos of the sky.
(5) I got really sick of eating NutriGrain bars for the past few months so when I went to Costco this past week and they were offering samples of these Quacker Oats life bars I was blown away! Cinnamon-y goodness in a bar on-the-go!

I know I promised to blog a post a week but bare with me! I also have so much footage to edit to compose several videos so stay tuned!

See you @ Debut 2011

So excited!!!

The FIDM Debut Fashion Show is a show you certainly do not want to miss!
I have been attending The FIDM Debut Fashion show (almost) every year.
I have to say my first time was most exciting.
I was able to get the VIP ticket my first year at FIDM and the privelges of the VIP membership was a free gift bag along with a pre-show party that had a chocolate fountain, photo booth, food, drinks, and more freebies!
I wasn't able to attend last year due to (I forgot what) but I am very ectastic to be going again this year.

I will be reporting from the show (live) so follow me on Twitter if you cannot make the show and want to live it through me, haha :P
I will also be recording the show (cross your fingers and toes for me that I get a good seat) and taking photographs as well.
If you are attending and you happen to see me, don't hesitate to say hello and let's take a photo together! I would love to meet you fellow readers who are current students! Sadly for us FIDM students who have class once a week it's hard to meet new people and stay friends with our classmates!

So don't wait, go get your ticket now because they run out quick!

P.s. We're limited to only 1 ticket per student this year. In the past we were able to at least get 2? 1 for ourself and 1 for a guest but I guess they're really making it strict this year.

Midterms Mayhem

*Where I spent most of my night until I migrated to my couch around 4am
*A few shots of my project
*The bowl of Kettle Popcorn that kept me company
*Quaker Oats LIFE bar in other words, my on-the-go breakfast
*What we did today in class
*My outfit of the day, read more over at my blog
*A fascinating classmate who changed from oxfords to heels in the shuttle before arriving at the FIDM main campus..
*Photo booth photos
*The American Heart Association held a mini Lunch N' Learn conference today in Student Activities.

So I pulled an all nighter last night. Feb 8/Feb 9. Perfected my midterms project and studied for the exam. Took a tiny nap from 5:30am-6:00am and from there I had to take my sister to school and off to Downtown LA I went. I wasn't too tired but coming home never felt so good.

Time for a confession. I'll be honest, I never tried hard in school or give it my all in high school. My only 4.0 gpa was back in the 4th grade and from that period on until high school I never bothered to do it again. That all changed when I arrived at FIDM. I found myself buried in my work and a lot has to do with my love for what I'm learning at FIDM. I don't mind staying up all night starring at my computer screen drawing designs or brushing my skin against silk fabric, over and over again until all the silk fibers are over my clothes. This is what I want to do and this is where I want to be. It's true that no matter how hard your job gets, if you love it, it doesn't seem hard at all.

Intensity & Value Scale (Day 2)

Second day of class today. Second week of this quarter today. I wake up and dread the traffic down to Downtown LA and walk into class moody thinking it'll take forever for the next 3 hours to go by but before you know it, you're all caught up in mixing color dyes and wrapping the pieces of silk in plastic food wrap that you wish you had an extra 3 hours to finish up your second assignment. Geezus!

Textile and Color Management, this class literally goes by so quickly. It's one of "those" classes where you wish you had an extra hour or two because you could really use it. Thank goodness there are open labs.

The view of FIDM from the corner where I parked. Beautiful building isn't it?

How I was feeling.. .

We were assigned the "Value" and "Intesity" scales this week.

See ya next week!

Winter Quarter 2010

Hello my fellow FIDM Blogspot readers! I hope you all had a great end of the 2010 year, holiday and new year! Cheers to 2011!

Many of us have resolutions and there are those that we do accomplish and those that we do not. I, however, have made this blog one of my resolutions. I hope to publish at least 1 post a week so here's to my first post!

I am actually siting in the FIDM (LA) Library typing this right now! :)

Today was "my first day at school" again. I took 2 quarters off so it's kind of bizarre and new to be back again. I see a lot of new faces. Many of my fellow classmates+friends graduated last summer. I was suppose to but I came across an opportunity that needed me to take a break. I have 3 classes left and will be graduating this summer. You bet I'm excited!

So this quarter, it's Winter 2010, I am taking "Textile Application & Color Management". I'm a Merchandise Product Development major so a part of our program is to go through a series of "Fabric Idenfication" classes. These classes involve identifying endless fabrics, learning what the fabric is made of, what are the uses are the fabric, and more. This class is the 3rd level/stage and today which was the first day of class, dyed a piece of silk in different color dyes. Basically, we're suppose to make the entire color wheel out of the fabric and dyes. We were given red, yellow, and blue to make the entire color wheel. Class went by fairly quickly but I know that will most certainly begin to change next week, lol.

Good luck to all my current FIDM class mates and cheers to a successful quarter! As for my readers, here's to my resolution of having a post(s) for you every week!

Random photos time!

My "healthy" lunch.
The strawberry, raspberry, and blueberries yogurt parfait actually tastes REALLY good from The FIDM Cafe! Much better than McDonalds, lol! And it comes with a lot of granola if you're a granola lover like me!

And as I was leaving the library I came across this BEAUTIFUL roller backpack!
I love it!!! Where can I get one anonymous person who I took a photo of your backpack?!

The types who go to fashion shows..

"Fashion shows are jolly affairs. There's pulsating music, flashing lights and lots of people walking up to and down so you can see what they're wearing. Usually the types who go to fashion shows tend to be interested in what people are wearing, so everyone's happy."

My life as Niki Shadrow's Assistant.

Just wanted to share a few random snap shots of my role as an assistant to celebrity stylist and editor and FIDM alumni, Niki Shadrow.

I do everything an assistant is suppose to do.
Me.
From organizing our intern database to sometimes doing pulls+returns myself.
Help with styling celebrity clients to styling models at photo shoots.
Handling Niki's breakdowns and meltdowns.
She's more than just a boss, she's become like a bestfriend.
A mentor and guide.
Love her.
wouldn't work for anyone else.

So since my last day of class which was Monday.
I've been at her studio every day.
We're prepping for a little secret that I cannot wait to reveal.
But until then, it's a secret.

Ok,
here I am on my way up to the studio with a pair of new platforms.

Hard at work with 6 laptops on the table.
With Niki's sisters Stephanie and Danielle.
we were all in their studio working hard all week and prepping for the deadline.
Although I don't like doing them, with our interns away for break or back home I am responsible for all pulls and returns.
handy dandy iBob that guides me to all my destinations.
oh Downtown L.A.
I get to be by Niki's side whenever she styles a client.
And sometimes now, I get the privilege to style models at photoshoots and events!
I help with styling Niki's clients as well. we previously did Kara Taitz from MTV for the MTV movie awards.
yes, i do everything.
such as picking up cupcakes at a grocery store for niki's boyfriend's birthday 2 weeks ago.

the boss lady, Niki Shadrow, myself, and who I like to call my now husband and former intern and who also blogs on here, Ben.

Xx
